How to add or remove guests from your booking

Group plans shift all the time - someone new wants to join, or a friend can't make it after all. Here's how to update the number of guests on your booking.

How to change your group size

  1. Contact your host through your booking

    Log in at withlocals.com, go to "My Bookings," and open the booking you want to change. Use the messaging feature to let your host know you'd like to add or remove guests.

  2. Your host checks availability

    Your host will review whether the new group size works for the experience. Some experiences have a maximum capacity, so adding guests isn't always possible.

  3. Confirm the change

    If your host approves the change, the booking will be updated. Depending on the direction of the change:

    • Adding guests: You may need to pay the difference for the additional travellers.

    • Removing guests: You may receive a partial refund for fewer travellers.

Good to know

  • Group size changes need host approval. Since hosts prepare for a specific number of guests (especially for food tours and hands-on experiences), they need to confirm they can accommodate the change.

  • Pricing may change. Most experiences use per-person pricing, so adding or removing guests will affect the total cost.

  • Maximum group size applies. Each experience has a listed maximum. If you're already at capacity, adding more guests won't be possible.

  • Changes cannot be made on the day of the experience. Reach out to your host as early as possible so there's time to adjust.

What if my host can't accommodate the change?

If your host isn't able to take additional guests, you have a few options:

  • Book a second experience on the same date for the extra guests, if available.

  • Reschedule to a date where a larger group can be accommodated - see How to reschedule your booking.

  • Browse other experiences in the same city that offer a larger group size.

Booked through a partner platform?

If you booked through Viator, GetYourGuide, or another partner, you'll need to contact that platform directly to modify your guest count. Withlocals cannot make changes to bookings made on partner sites.
