Buying your attraction ticket

Some experiences visit a museum, monument, or attraction that needs a separate entrance ticket. For a few of those, your booking guides you to the official ticket page and lets you confirm to your host that you have your ticket. This article explains how that works.

How you know it applies to your experience

Before you book, the experience page shows a Separate attraction ticket needed notice with the line "Buy directly from the attraction after booking". You also see the same notice in the booking summary on the checkout page. If you see this notice, the steps below apply.

If you don't see the notice, this doesn't apply to that experience, even if the visit involves an attraction. In that case, follow what the experience description says about entrance fees and check with your host through the chat if you're unsure who buys what.

Right after you book

Once your booking is confirmed, you're taken straight to a step called Get your attraction ticket. For each ticket you need, this step shows:

  • The venue name and how many tickets you need for your group.

  • The exact date and time the ticket should be for, and how that lines up with your tour start (for example, "30 min after your tour starts at 10:00").

  • A Buy your tickets button that opens the venue's official ticket page in a new tab.

  • An I have bought my tickets button to confirm once you have them.

When you tap I have bought my tickets, a window appears asking you to confirm you have tickets for the right date, time, and number of guests. Tap Yes, I have my tickets to send the confirmation to your host.

If you can't buy the tickets right away, that's fine. You can skip the step and come back to it later from your booking details.

Confirming later from your booking

If you didn't buy the tickets right after booking, your booking shows a Don't forget your attraction ticket reminder until you confirm.

  1. Log in to Withlocals on the web or in the app.

  2. Open My Bookings and select the booking.

  3. Scroll to the Attraction Tickets section.

  4. Tap Buy your tickets to open the venue's ticket page, then tap I have bought my tickets and confirm.

Once every required ticket is confirmed, the section shows Tickets confirmed and your host is notified that you're all set. If you confirmed by mistake, you can undo it from the same section.

Why you buy it yourself

Withlocals deliberately keeps attraction tickets out of the booking. Buying them yourself gives you:

  • Total privacy: no personal details are shared with the venue through us.

  • Best price: you pay the official venue price with no markup.

  • Full control: the ticket is in your name, so it's clear who's entering.

  • Easy discounts: you can apply any discount you qualify for at the venue.

Good to know

  • Buy the ticket yourself, directly from the venue. Your host will not buy it for you and Withlocals does not handle the payment.

  • Buy the ticket for the right date, time, and group size shown on the booking. The required time is set so you can enter when the tour reaches the venue.

  • If the venue is sold out for your slot, message your host through the chat as soon as possible. They can help you find an alternative or, if needed, reschedule the booking.

  • If you have questions about the ticket itself (refunds, exchanges, ID requirements), contact the venue directly. Withlocals support cannot change a venue's ticket.
