Contacting your host

You can message your host through Withlocals chat. Every booking keeps its conversation with the host in one place.

Open the chat from your booking

  1. Log in to Withlocals on the web or in the app.

  2. Open Bookings and select the booking.

  3. In the Your host section, tap Chat.

That opens the conversation with your host. You can also open Chat from the menu (or the Chat tab in the app) to see all your conversations.

What the chat supports

  • Text messages and photos

  • Replying to a specific earlier message, reacting with an emoji, and pinning important messages

  • Editing or deleting a message you sent

  • Muting or blocking a contact, and reporting the conversation if something is wrong

  • A group chat with your host once you have invited the people travelling with you

Good to know

  • All host communication goes through Withlocals chat. Keep the conversation there so you have a record if something goes wrong.

  • Your host's phone number is shared once your free cancellation period has ended. Until then the booking page says "Your host's number is shared closer to the tour. Chat is open now." and shows the date from which calling is available. After that, tap Call in the Your host section, for example if you're running late or can't find the meeting point. In the app the call is made through Withlocals.

  • Withlocals shows a safety reminder in every chat: communicate and transfer money only through the Withlocals website or app. If a host asks you to pay or message elsewhere, see Is this message really from Withlocals?.
