Responding to booking requests

This applies to experiences that are not instantly confirmed. On those experiences, when a guest books, the booking starts as unconfirmed and you need to accept or reject it before it becomes final. The guest's payment is held but not charged until you accept.

Most experiences on Withlocals are instantly confirmed, which means bookings are confirmed and charged automatically without any action from you. You only need to respond to requests on experiences where instant confirmation is turned off.

Where the request shows up

An unconfirmed booking appears on your host dashboard:

  • The homepage shows an Actions required section with a counter, linking to your action list.

  • The booking itself shows an Action required banner at the top with two buttons: Accept booking and Reject booking.

  • You also receive a notification.

Accepting or rejecting

Open the booking from your action list or the homepage. Review the date, time, number of adults and children, any special request from the guest, and the payout amount. Then tap Accept booking or Reject booking.

If you accept, the booking becomes confirmed and the guest is charged. If you reject, the guest is notified and the payment hold is released.

If you don't respond in time

If you do not act on an unconfirmed booking within 48 hours, it expires automatically. Both you and the guest are notified, and the payment hold is released. You receive reminders between 24 and 47 hours after the request comes in.

Good to know

  • Accepting a booking you can't host is worse than rejecting it. If you accept and then need to back out, you have to transfer or cancel, which affects your host metrics.

  • Rejecting a request does not count as a cancellation.

  • If your availability has changed, update your calendar so new requests only come in for dates you can host.
