If your payment fails at checkout, Withlocals tells you what went wrong. Read the message and try the steps below.
What to try
Check the details you entered. A typo in the card number, expiry date, or security code is the most common cause.
Try a different payment method. Pick a different option from the list at checkout, such as a different card or a local method like iDEAL or Bancontact if you are in a supported country.
Check with your bank. Many payment failures are decided by your bank, not by Withlocals. Your bank may block online or international payments by default, or may need you to approve the transaction in your banking app first.
Reload the page and try again. If the problem looks like a connection issue, reload the checkout page and start the payment again.
If nothing works
Your booking stays open while payment is not completed. You can go back to your bookings, reopen the booking, and try again. Switching your currency at checkout can also change which payment methods are available to you. See Currency and pricing.
Still stuck? Contact support
Open the Withlocals help center and start a conversation with the support team. Share the experience name, the date you wanted to book, and what you saw when the payment failed.
Good to know
A failed payment does not create a confirmed booking. If you see a pending charge on your bank statement after a failure, your bank releases it automatically.
The payment methods available at checkout depend on your country and the currency you selected.
