Passkeys and two-factor authentication

You can add extra security to your Withlocals account with passkeys and two-factor authentication (2FA). Both are managed from the Security section of your account page.

How to open Security

  1. Log in to Withlocals.

  2. Open the menu and choose My account.

  3. Open the Security section.

Passkeys

A passkey lets you sign in with your fingerprint, face, or device PIN instead of a password.

To add a passkey:

  1. In the Passkeys section, tap Add a passkey.

  2. Give your passkey a name (for example "MacBook Pro" or "iPhone").

  3. Enter your password to confirm.

  4. Follow your device's prompt to create the passkey.

You can add more than one passkey. Each one appears in the list with its name. To remove a passkey, tap Remove next to it and enter your password.

Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication adds a second step when you sign in. After entering your password, you also enter a 6-digit code from an authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator or Authy).

To set up 2FA:

  1. In the Two-Factor Authentication section, tap Set up.

  2. Enter your password.

  3. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. If you can't scan, tap View setup key and enter the key manually.

  4. Save the backup codes somewhere safe. You can use them to access your account if you lose your authenticator device.

  5. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app and tap Verify and Activate.

Once enabled, the section shows Active and gives you options to regenerate backup codes or disable 2FA.

Good to know

  • Passkeys and 2FA are only available if you signed up with an email and password. They do not appear if you sign in with Google, Facebook, or Apple only.

  • Keep your backup codes somewhere safe. If you lose your authenticator device and don't have backup codes, we can help you regain access. Tell us the email the account is registered to and we'll start the recovery.
